   There are some days that are so blisteringly hot, not even an Italian ice will cool you down, so it's important to stay hydrated while slogging through the streets of Charleston. Last weekend, we investigated the multitude of outlets for liquid consumption, the essentials for any functioning human: water, beer, and coffee.

   It’s a big weekend here in the Holy City, and there’s no doubt that the outsiders are about to swarm our cobblestone streets. Not only does this weekend kick off the busiest time of year for Charleston, the Spoleto Festival USA, but it’s also Memorial Day weekend, meaning that families will arrive from all over the South to lounge at our glorious beaches.

   This week is full of visual arts openings and exhibits to help you stretch out your cultural appreciation muscle before Spoleto and Piccolo Spoleto start on Friday.

   If you were planning on resting up this weekend in preparation for Spoleto season — which starts next week — forget about it. There are so many festivals, concerts, benefits, and more going on that you're going to be busy.

   After a long night partying at Republic Reign, we awoke to a tinny buzz in our ears and a mass of jumbled notes. "White girls be twerkin'" was the final line we scribbled down. Someone must have had a good time.
